Surely, this is the time
to remember the earth we love
however lost it might seem—
and ask ourselves what does it mean
to stand by it ?
And to stand by her
for the best we can be
in spite of our insanity
is to obey that unanswerable command,
and walk in beauty.
Yes indeed, humanity is crossing the river of fire...
